Kitkat, The Naughty Kitty Cat
Kitkat was a little ginger and white kitten who lived with his mommy and sister, Powder Puff, in Clawsland. Kitkat WAS a little kitten but not for long, and that is what this story is all about.
All cats know that Mrs. Claus is responsible for making the cat and kitten treats that Santa Claws brings to good kitties each Christmas. She spends the whole year in her gigantic kitchen with a staff of professional cat treat makers creating all kinds of delicious treats for cats. She chooses favourite feline foods and makes sure that each tidbit is of the most delicious quality.

Mrs. Claus uses food that cats love such as chicken, turkey, beef and fish. She combines flavours and makes steak and chicken, beef and cheese, or salmon and tuna. She forms them into fish shapes and bird shapes but she never used mouse shapes, fearing to offend Santa Claws’ workshop helpers. She even adds catmint to some.
Kitkat was used to going to the big kitchen where treats were made because his mommy and Powder Puff worked there. Powder Puff was a white kitty. She was older than Kitkat and helped to look after him.

Kitkat would play while the other cats worked. Sometimes treats fell to the floor accidentally and Kitkat was allowed to eat them. They were yummy! One day a whole tray accidentally fell and Kitkat ate and ate before his mommy could stop him.
“It’s not good to eat too many treats,” warned Powder Puff. “You might get sick.” But Kitkat didn’t care. The treats were too good.
Now, Kitkat was not always a good cat. He started to take treats when no one was looking. Once he even tipped a tray to the floor intentionally. Kitkat started to grow and soon he was bigger than Powder Puff. All those treats went to his belly and he got a big, round tummy.

Kitkat was now big enough to work in the kitchen. Powder Puff was always saying, “Kitkat, put that treat down.” and “Kitkat, start working and stop snacking.” But Kitkat didn’t listen.
One day after Kitkat had been working in the kitchen for a while he got an idea. He would hide in the kitchen when everyone left at night and he would eat all the treats he wanted. When everyone was leaving Kitkat hid behind a big box. The door was locked and Kitkat was alone with all the treats. He didn’t have to worry about Powder Puff looking for him because he told her that he was going to a friend’s house.
What a time he had. First he ate the beef treats. Then he ate the turkey. Next he tried salmon and chicken, and before you knew it he had eaten some of every type. But he didn’t stop. He ate more and more. He began to feel full but he kept eating. He began to feel sick but he kept eating. He began to get pains in his tummy but he kept eating.

Eventually, he knew it was time to stop. He tidied up and went to the front door but something happened. He couldn’t get through!
He turned sideways but he couldn’t get through.
He tried tail first but he couldn’t get through.
“Well,” thought Kitkat. “I’ll go out the back door.”
But he couldn’t move. He was stuck!
He tried and tried. He meowed and meowed. But nothing happened.
Kitkat stayed in the doorway all night until the cats arrived for work the next morning. He was so embarrassed. Powder Puff was angry, but then she saw how sad he was so she tried to cheer him up.
‘We’ll have you out of there in no time,” she reassured him. But no cat knew what to do. Finally an old Tomcat suggested that they coat him in butter and push him through. Kitkat was too sad to object.

First they coated his front paws. Kitkat was miserable.
Then they coated his back paws, his tail and his body.
“Okay, everycat. Push!” shouted the Tomcat. Everycat pushed but Kitkat went nowhere.
Next they decided to tie a rope around him and pull but that didn’t work either.
All day, new ideas were tried. Nothing worked. Kitkat cried and cried. Mommy and Powder Puff tried to cheer him up but nothing worked.
Finally, it was time for bed, and Kitkat was left alone for another night. He couldn’t sleep. He meowed and meowed. Then he heard a growling sound. He looked through the door and saw a polar bear in the distance. Kitkat started to shiver and shake. The bear came closer and growled louder and showed its teeth and claws. Kitkat shook and shivered until he broke the door frame apart.
He was free! He ran home as fast as he could. Mommy and powder Puff washed him with their rough tongues to remove the butter and sent him to bed. Kitkat stayed in bed for two days. His tummy finally got better but he no longer could eat treats. They made him sick.
Kikat never took anything belonging to someone else again and he became a very good cat.
